Sariyer Pier History

Sariyer Pier is located in the Sariyer district of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European side of the Bosphorus Strait. The pier was built by the Ottoman Empire in 1890 as part of the efforts to improve transportation and commerce on the Bosphorus. It served as a major transportation hub for people and goods travelling between the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. During the Republic period, Sariyer Pier continued to serve as a transportation hub and a popular spot for fishing and leisure activities. In the 1950s, the pier was renovated and expanded to accommodate larger ferries and boats. Today, Sariyer Pier is a popular tourist attraction, with its picturesque views of the Bosphorus and its historic architecture. It is also still used as a transportation hub, with ferries and other boats departing from the pier to various destinations along the Bosphorus.
